Discover the remarkable career of Patricia Urquiola, a talented designer and architect, as she blends her Spanish roots with her Milanese influences. Born in Oviedo, Spain, and currently residing in Milan, Urquiola’s journey has been shaped by her studies and collaborations with renowned figures in the design world.

Having studied Architecture at the Technical University of Madrid and the Polytechnic University of Milan under the guidance of Achille Castiglioni, Urquiola’s passion for design took root. She gained invaluable experience working as an assistant lecturer for Castiglioni and alongside Vico Magistretti, as well as serving as Head of Design for Lissoni Associati.

In 2001, Urquiola established her own studio, where she showcases her expertise in product design, interiors, and architecture. Her impressive portfolio includes notable projects such as the “Museo del Gioiello” jewelry museum in Vicenza, the Hotel Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona, the Hotel Das Stue in Berlin, and the Spa of the Hotel Four Seasons in Milan. She has also lent her creative touch to retail and display designs for prestigious brands like Gianvito Rossi, BMW, Cassina, Ferragamo, Flos, Missoni, Molteni, Officine Panerai, H&M, Santoni, and Pitti Uomo Firenze.

Urquiola’s designs have earned international recognition and can be found in renowned museums worldwide, including the MoMA in New York, the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, the Museum of Design in Zurich, the Vitra Design Museum in Basel, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Stedelijk in Amsterdam, and the Triennale in Milan.

Her exceptional talent has been honored with numerous accolades, such as the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes from the Spanish government and the order of Isabella the Catholic presented by His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain. She has been named “Designer of the Decade” by magazines like Home and Häuser, as well as “Designer of the Year” by Wallpaper, AD Spain, Elle Decor International, and Architektur und Wohnen.
