Lema Contract Transforms Alessi’s Concept Store at Harrods
A Masterpiece Collaboration
A royal parterre for an ambitious contract project overseas. Lema has furnished the brand new Alessi concept store at Harrods, historic luxurious department store in London. The project is designed by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi, one of the great masters of Italian design. Lema Contract’s technical expertise allowed the division to collaborate with the prestigious companies involved, giving rise to bespoke proposals capable of translating the design and creative vision of AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi, as well as the client’s needs, into a completely custom-made layout.
A turnkey project led by Lema Contract which involved an important intervention across all physical components of the concept store, from the flooring to the cash counter. The exclusive supply was successfully completed by offering tailor-made solutions, maximizing every available millimetre to meet the client’s needs and achieving 100% space customization.
The result is a concept store of approximately 30 square meters, serving as the ideal framework to showcase a selection of over 200 Alessi-branded items. Amongst the most notable, the equipped perimeter walls feature green lacquered shelves with alternating vertical mirror dividers and obliquely oriented green panels, creating a dynamic effect that adds three-dimensionality to the space and highlights the displayed objects.
“We created the Alessi store inside Harrods as a grand house of cards: small modular panels in typical British green and mirror alternations combine in a game of interlocking reflections, allowing for different configurations to showcase the preciousness and uniqueness of Alessi products,” says Davide Angeli, Deputy Managing Director of AMDL CIRCLE.
To enhance smaller and valuable products, Lema Contract created a display table with a glass case at the centre of the space, mirroring the symmetries of the surrounding furnishings. Inspired by the characteristic “British green,” the chosen green colour for wall lacquering and concept store furniture provides an additional element of visual continuity. Adding character to the space, at the entrance of the concept store, is an original sculptural display tower composed of a vertical structure in smoked glass and green lacquered shelves.
“Undoubtedly, this is one of the projects that has brought us the greatest satisfaction,” comments Angelo Meroni, President of Lema. “It is the result of great teamwork carried out with passion by Lema Contract together with international talents in the field of design and architecture, such as Alessi, AMDL CIRCLE, and Michele De Lucchi, within an extraordinary and iconic place like Harrods.”
