Love in the R & Co Gallery

“Love,” is the title of the exhibition in the R & Co Gallery, by the French interior designer Pierre Yovanovitch, that was on display in New York from November 6, 2019 to January 5, 2020. This exhibition followed the success of his inaugural OOPS collection presented at the same gallery in September, 2017.

Yovanovitch, who also carries a great knowledge of silhouette and textile from his background working with the famous fashion designer Pierre Cardin, is the only French designer to appear in the “AD100” ranking of the best interior designers and decorators in the world. In his latest exhibition, Yovanovitch has transformed the gallery space in Lower Manhattan into domestic scenes in order to display an immersive architectural, colourful, and theatrical exhibition, in which visitors can find new versions of creations already exhibited during the OOPS exhibition in Tribeca Gallery. Included are creations such as the Daydream Mama Bear and Daydream Papa Bear armchairs, upholstered in sheepskin, which were located in the hall. The dining room’s Monsieur and Madame Oops chairs are also available, as are the Gérard Oops and Catherine Oops chairs with custom embroidery, as designed by Lesage Intérieurs.

Warm colour-painted walls displaying lights, in the shape of hands, surround bear-shaped, super-cuddly armchairs and cushions with embroidered lips on them. They are all, not only representing the designer’s signature style of design, but they also go beyond the interior design scope and confidently step into the fine art milieu. It is quite obvious that by referencing the vintage design elements in his work, Yovanovitch aims to establish a dialogue between the 20th and 21st century’s designs.
